ProxyMTG offers customization features as part of our print-on-demand model, including custom backs, custom art, and optional printed “holo stamp” style graphics on some designs.
This page explains what’s allowed, what we reject, and how to design custom orders responsibly.
Core rule: Customization must not be used to deceive anyone or to represent a proxy as an authentic MTG card.
1) What’s Allowed
A) Custom backs (recommended)
Custom backs are one of the best ways to keep proxies responsible and reduce confusion.
Allowed examples include:
Your own logo or brand mark
“PLAYTEST” / “PROXY” backs
Custom art patterns, symbols, or typography
“Cube” or “Test Deck” style backs
B) Custom fronts / custom art
Allowed examples include:
Alternate art for personal playtesting/casual use
Your own original artwork
Fan-style reinterpretations or themed custom designs (where you have the rights to use the artwork)
C) Printed “holo stamp” style graphics (when offered)
These are printed ink graphics intended for style/personalization.
Allowed examples include:
a printed emblem with “PROXY” or “PLAYTEST”
a personal icon, logo, or initials
decorative stamps that do not imply authenticity
Important: This is not a physical foil stamp and not an authentication feature.
2) What We Reject (Deceptive Intent)
We reserve the right to reject or cancel custom orders that appear intended to deceive, including requests to:
Mimic authentic card security elements or “authentication marks”
Create proxies designed to be sold/traded as authentic
Remove proxy indicators specifically to make a card “pass” as real
Create backs that closely imitate authentic MTG card backs in a way that increases confusion
Any design request that explicitly seeks “undetectable,” “indistinguishable,” or “tournament” use
If we believe a design increases the chance of deception, we may:
request revisions
require clearer proxy labeling (example: “PROXY” / “PLAYTEST”)
reject the order
3) Recommended Best Practices (Safe + Clean Custom Orders)
If you want the smoothest approval and the best customer experience:
Use a custom back that’s clearly distinct
Add a clear marker like “PROXY” or “PLAYTEST” where it fits your design
Keep text and key details high-contrast and readable (especially in sleeves)
Avoid chasing “perfect authenticity”—our customization is designed for responsible casual use

4) Intellectual Property + User-Submitted Content
If you upload any art, logos, or designs, you confirm that you have the rights or permission to use them. You are responsible for the content you submit.
We may refuse content that we reasonably believe:
infringes third-party rights, or
violates laws, or
violates this customization policy
