Premium Proxies

Print Quality & Materials

All ProxyMTG cards are printed on premium S33 German black-core cardstock for durability and a consistent in-sleeve feel. We apply a UV coating for a familiar TCG-style finish, use precision die cutting for accurate sizing and clean edges, and enhance print files to a minimum of 300 DPI for crisp text and best-in-class clarity. TCG-style finish, use precision die cutting for accurate sizing and clean edges, and enhance print files to a minimum of 300 DPI for crisp text and best-in-class clarity.

That means your print quality holds up where it matters: readable card text, clean symbols, sharp frames, and consistent sizing so your deck doesn’t look like it was assembled from five different dimensions of reality.

Thanks for choosing ProxyMTG — we’re proud to offer one of the best proxy printing experiences available and look forward to helping you build your next deck.

Card Art & Versions

Get the perfect print for your deck

Proxies should be playable and pretty (we do both). Pick the card art and version you want when options are available, and we’ll print it with a focus on table readability: clean linework, crisp rules text, and sharp mana symbols. If you’re building for fast gameplay, choose the most readable version. If you’re building for vibes, pick the art that makes you happy. Both are valid life choices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you print single cards?
Yes. A single card is $3. If you print 2–9 cards, they’re $2 each, and the per-card price drops as your order size increases (see the pricing tiers above). This is great for grabbing a couple staples, testing one spicy tech choice, or finishing a deck without committing to a full print run.
Is there a minimum order?
No minimums. If you need one card, you can order one card. A lot of players start small (one card, a handful of upgrades) and then print a bigger batch later once the list is locked in.
Can I print a full Commander deck or an entire decklist?
Absolutely. Printing an entire deck—especially a Commander deck—is one of the most common use cases for ProxyMTG. Our tiered pricing is built for full-deck orders, cube updates, and larger playtest batches where you want high quality MTG proxy cards that feel consistent in sleeves.
Can I upload a deck list?
Yes (and if you prefer, you can also build your list card-by-card using search and set browsing). The goal is to make decklist-to-print as straightforward as possible: you provide the list, review quantities and versions, then checkout. If you’re working from a saved list, this is usually the fastest path to printed proxies.
What cardstock do you use?
We print on premium S33 German black-core cardstock. Black-core stock is chosen for durability and a consistent in-sleeve feel, so your MTG proxy cards handle like real play pieces instead of feeling flimsy or “papery.”
Do you use UV coating?
Yes. Every card gets a UV coating for a familiar TCG-style finish and better durability during play. The coating helps the cards feel smoother in sleeves and holds up better through repeated shuffling and handling—because kitchen table games get real, fast.
How do you ensure crisp print quality?
All print files are enhanced to a minimum of 300 DPI. That means sharper text, cleaner frames, and better overall clarity—especially on small details like symbols, mana pips, and rules text. Good proxies should be readable at a glance, not an eye exam.
How accurate is the sizing and cutting?
We use precision die cutting for consistent sizing and clean edges. Accurate cut + consistent corners matters more than people think: it improves shuffle feel, reduces edge wear, and helps avoid the “that one card is a different size” problem.
Will these feel different when shuffled?
In sleeves, they’re designed to handle consistently. A premium cardstock + UV finish combination gets you that familiar “TCG feel” most players expect. Unsleeved shuffling is where differences show up in almost anything (including real cards you don’t want to scuff), which is why sleeves are the standard for most Commander pods anyway.
Can I choose different card art or versions?
When multiple versions are available, yes—choose the card art you like and the version that makes you happiest. If your priority is speed of play, pick the most readable art/frame. If your priority is flavor, pick the version that fits your deck theme. The best proxy is the one you can read quickly and enjoy playing.
Do you offer official backs or custom backs?
We recommend custom backs for the lowest-drama experience. Custom backs make it clear your cards are proxies and helps avoid confusion at the table. If you’re using sleeves, consistency matters most—keep everything sleeved the same and you’re in good shape for casual play.
Do you print double-faced cards (DFCs)?
Yes. If you select a double-faced card, we automatically print both sides for you. No extra “print two separate cards” juggling—your DFC arrives as a proper two-sided card, ready for sleeves and gameplay.
Can I make MTG proxy booster packs for draft nights?
Yes—if you mean “proxy packs” for casual drafts, cube nights, or themed set play. The practical approach is to define what a pack is for your group (often 15 cards), build packs from a set or curated list, and print enough for the table. It’s a fun way to get the limited experience without relying on expensive cards or chasing sealed product.
Do you provide PDFs or downloads for home printing?
ProxyMTG is a printing service—we print and ship physical cards. If your goal is home printing, you can absolutely do the “PDF on a sheet + cut + sleeve” route, but our service is for players who want premium stock, consistent thickness, clean edges, and reliable print quality without doing arts-and-crafts every time they change a deck.
What size are your proxy cards?
Our proxies are cut to standard trading-card size so they fit properly in sleeves (typical MTG cards are about 2.5" x 3.5"). Precision die cutting helps keep sizing consistent across the whole order.
How long does printing and shipping take (and how does tracking work)?
We print on demand after checkout, then ship (tracked options are available depending on order size and destination). The simple formula is: Delivery time = Production time + Transit time Production time: Most orders are produced and shipped within ~2 business days (Monday–Friday, excluding postal holidays). During busy periods (holidays, major set releases) or for larger/custom orders, production can take longer—if you have a deadline, reach out before ordering so we can tell you what’s realistic. Transit time: Standard U.S. delivery is typically ~3–7 business days after shipment (carrier-dependent), which is why many U.S. orders arrive in about ~5–9 business days total (production + transit). Expedited shipping (when available) reduces transit time, not production time. Tracking notes: If tracking shows “Label Created,” “Pre-Shipment,” or “Awaiting Item,” it usually means the label was generated but the carrier hasn’t scanned it yet (or the scan hasn’t posted). The first scan often takes 24–48 hours, and sometimes the first scan doesn’t appear until the package hits the next facility. Shipping time ultimately depends on the service you select at checkout.
What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?
Contact support with your order number and photos. If we made an error or something was damaged in transit, we’ll work with you to make it right. We care about consistent outcomes—because printing proxies is only “easy” if the end result is reliable.
Are these tournament legal?
No. These are proxies for casual play and playtesting where allowed. Sanctioned events generally require authentic Magic cards (with limited judge-issued exceptions—typically only if a card is accidentally damaged during the event). If you’re playing at an LGS, it’s always smart to ask the store or your pod what their expectations are.
Are these proxies for casual play only?
Yes. ProxyMTG prints proxies for casual play and playtesting where allowed. These aren’t official tournament cards, and they aren’t intended for sanctioned events or resale as “real cards.” Keep it clear, keep it fair, and your playgroup will usually be chill about it.
Is home printing good enough, or should I use a printing service?
Home printing can work, especially for quick testing. A lot of people start with a PDF on a sheet of paper, cut it out, and slide it in front of a basic land. It works… in the same way instant ramen is technically food. A printing service is for when you want the end result to feel consistent every time you play: reliable thickness, clean edges, durable finish, and proxies that shuffle and read like real play pieces. Premium cardstock + UV coating + precision die cutting + 300 DPI enhancement is the difference between “this is fine for testing” and “this feels good every time we play.”
Can I create and print custom cards?
If you love custom card designs, you’re our people. We’re building tools to make it easier to create and print custom cards in the future. In the meantime, if you’re designing your own cards, prioritize readability and clean frames—your future self will thank you when you’re not squinting across the table. (And if you’re not designing yet, also fine—most of us can barely choose a Commander, let alone a font.)
