**What it does**
Atraxa, Praetors’ Voice is a four‑mana, four‑color 4/4 with flying, vigilance, deathtouch, and lifelink. At your end step, you **proliferate**—you choose any permanents/players with counters and give each another of every kind they already have.
**How it plays**
Atraxa is a snowball in a single card. She stabilizes combat (lifelink/deathtouch/vigilance), pressures planeswalkers, and—most importantly—converts any counter into inevitability. +1/+1 counters grow boards, planeswalkers tick up faster, poison counters become a real clock, and resource counters (experience, shield, energy, saga lore, day/night, etc.) compound. Because proliferate happens every turn you keep her, the deck rewards sticking Atraxa and protecting her for multiple end steps.
**Roles & best use cases**
– **Superfriends**: Proliferate planeswalkers into ultimates ahead of schedule; run board clears that spare walkers (Farewell/Depopulate variants).
– **+1/+1 counters**: Hardened Scales, Ozolith effects, and modular/Adapt/Evolve creatures quickly outscale fair boards.
– **Infect/poison**: Even one poison counter becomes threatening when you proliferate every turn.
– **Grindy midrange**: Lifelink plus vigilance lets you attack and still hold up blocks or interaction.
**Sequencing & protection**
Cast Atraxa when you can immediately get value (a walker on the board, counters established) or when lifelink stabilizes a race. Protection (Swiftfoot Boots, Teferi’s Protection, Heroic Intervention) dramatically increases the payoff window. Remember proliferate targets nothing—you simply choose—so it’s resilient to hexproof/shroud nuances.
**Formats & popularity**
One of the most popular **Commander** legends of all time; legal across eternal formats but primarily an EDH all‑star. The 2XM showcase frame is a favorite for collectors and cube curators.
